What Is Flatbush Misdemeanors About?
Dan and Kevin, longtime friends, adjust to their evolving surroundings in the community of Flatbush, Brooklyn. A raw comedy of city life, Flatbush Misdemeanors explores two friends seeking to climb out of their heads and connect with others.
In season two of FLATBUSH MISDEMEANORS, Dan, Kevin, Zayna (Dodson) and Drew (Johnson) are back in Flatbush. Picking up where season one left off, Kevin tries to distance himself from Drew’s influence, yet Dan’s connection to Drew only grows stronger. Drew tries to correct his past mistakes, but they continue to haunt him. Drew’s niece Zayna ambitiously seeks to separate herself from her family’s troubled past. Meanwhile, Dan’s stepdad Kareem (Green) continues to sell bicycles. Season two follows these characters’ unlikely and complicated relationships as they intersect through the worlds of art, drugs and bike repair.
Created by Kevin Iso (High Fidelity) and Dan Perlman (That’s My Bus!), who both star, FLATBUSH MISDEMEANORS is a raw comedy of city life following Dan and Kevin, who play characters struggling to thrive in their new surroundings in Flatbush, Brooklyn.
The show explores two long-time friends seeking to climb out of their heads and connect with others. Season one cast also includes Kristin Dodson (The Shivering Truth), Hassan Johnson (The Wire), Kareem Green and Kerry Coddett.
For their work writing, directing and starring in the shorts that form the foundation of the series, Iso and Perlman won Best North American Short Film at the London Film Festival, with the first installment becoming Oscar(R) qualified following a Grand Jury Award for Best Narrative Short at the Florida Film Festival. As with the original shorts, many of the roles will be cast with actors from Brooklyn or the Flatbush neighborhood, including Kristin Dodson (The Shivering Truth), in the role of Zayna, one of Dan’s outspoken high school students.
