What Is Euphoria About?
Amidst the intertwining lives in the town of East Highland, 17 year old Rue (Zendaya) must find hope while balancing the pressures of love, loss, and addiction.
# Season 3 Cast & Crew Update
HBO today announced the returning main cast and new cast starring in season three of the Emmy®-winning drama series Euphoria, as well as new and returning key crew members. Euphoria is created, written, directed and executive produced by Sam Levinson, stars Emmy winner Zendaya, and is produced in partnership with A24. Season three is returning to shoot in Los Angeles.
The series has received 25 Emmy nominations, with nine wins. Among the wins are two for Zendaya for best actress in a drama and one for Colman Domingo for best guest actor in a drama. Levinson also won a DGA Award for the season two episode “Stand Still Like the Hummingbird.” Alongside its critical acclaim, Euphoria is one of the most watched series in all of HBO’s history.
RETURNING CAST: Emmy winner Zendaya (Dune film series, Challengers); Hunter Schafer (the upcoming Blade Runner); SAG Awards winner Eric Dane; BAFTA Film Award nominee Jacob Elordi (Guillermo Del Toro’s upcoming Frankenstein, the upcoming Wuthering Heights opposite Margot Robbie); Emmy nominee Sydney Sweeney (Anyone but You, the upcoming The Housemaid); Alexa Demie; and Maude Apatow return as series regulars. Emmy nominee Martha Kelly and Chloe Cherry have been upped to series regulars. Two-time best actor Academy Award nominee (and current nominee) and Emmy winner Colman Domingo returns as a guest star.
NEW CAST: GRAMMY Award winner ROSALÍA; Super Bowl Champion Marshawn Lynch (Love Hurts, Bottoms, Thursday Night Football); SAG Awards nominee Darrell Britt-Gibson (She Taught Love, Judas and The Black Messiah, Barry); NAACP Image Award winner Kadeem Hardison (Criminal, The Chi, A Different World); Priscilla Delgado (Julieta, Killer Book Club, A League of Their Own); James Landry Hébert (1883, Horizon, Once Upon a Time in Hollywood); and Anna Van Patten (Gossip Girl, Amanda: A Coming of Age Horror) have notable guest star roles.
SAG Awards winner Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje (Suicide Squad, Lost, The Union) and Venice Film Festival winner Toby Wallace (Babyteeth, The Bikeriders, Eden) join the cast as series regulars.
NEW CREW: Four-time Oscar winner Colleen Atwood joins as a Co-Producer. CDG Awards winner Natasha Newman-Thomas joins as costume designer. ADG Awards winner Francois Audouy joins as production designer.
RETURNING CREW: Emmy winner Julio C. Perez, IV returns as supervising editor and Co-Producer. Emmy winner Marcell Rév returns as director of photography and will be shooting all episodes. Emmy winner Doniella Davy returns as makeup department head. Emmy winner Ryan Heffington returns as choreographer. Emmy-nominated Kim Kimble returns as hair department head.
# Season 3 Renewal Update
That the Emmy(R)-winning drama series EUPHORIA has been renewed for a third season.
“Euphoria” follows the troubled life of 17-year-old Rue, a drug addict fresh from rehab with no plans to stay clean. Circling in Rue’s orbit are Jules, a transgender girl searching for where she belongs; Nate, a jock whose anger issues mask sexual insecurities; Chris, a football star who finds the adjustment from high school to college harder than expected; Cassie, whose sexual history continues to dog her; and Kat, a body-conscious teen exploring her sexuality.
As the classmates struggle to make sense of their futures, the series tackles the teenage landscape of substance-enhanced parties and anxiety-ridden day-to-day life with empathy and candor.
Series stars Zendaya as Rue Bennett, Hunter Schafer as Jules Vaughn, Jacob Elordi as Nate Jacobs, Sydney Sweeney as Cassie Howard, Alexa Demie as Madd Perez.
HBO renewed the series for a second season on June 11, 2019. The second season of the series is expected to be released in October 2021.
