NBCUniversal has sold “Dateline” in syndication to more than 90% of the country for its sixth season as a Monday-Friday strip program, adding new stations to its lineup, it was announced today by Sean O’Boyle, Executive Vice President of Syndication Sales, NBCUniversal Syndication Studios.

The syndicated version of “Dateline” currently airs weekdays on stations from leading broadcast groups, recently adding several stations in top markets from the NBC Owned Television Stations group. The sixth season of “Dateline” in syndication station lineup includes WNBC New York, WMAQ Chicago, WCAU Philadelphia, KRON San Francisco Bay Area, KXAS Dallas-Fort Worth, WRC-TV Washington DC, KPNX Phoenix, WTVJ Miami-Fort Lauderdale, KUSA Denver, KXTV Sacramento, KGW Portland, WRTV Indianapolis and WDRB Louisville. These stations join the stellar list of broadcast partners from station groups that include Tegna, FOX, Sinclair, Hearst, Nexstar, Graham Media, Gray, COX Media Group, Scripps, Sunbeam, Weigel, Block, Hubbard and more.

“‘Dateline’ continues to be best-in-class programming in the ever popular ‘True Crime’ genre. Its successful run in syndication started in 2017 when it entered the marketplace as a utility program,” said O’Boyle. “Now heading into its sixth season, ‘Dateline’ has grown to be a top performer for local stations, which are increasingly airing it in important time-periods on leading news stations. We are thrilled to share ‘Dateline’ with our partner stations, and we look forward to continued success for years to come.”

“We’re excited that this opportunity will allow fans and new viewers to watch ‘Dateline’ on some of the top stations across the country. We’re grateful that these stations – new partners and some we’ve had a relationship for years – are choosing to include ‘Dateline’ as part of their successful programming,” said David Corvo, Senior Executive Producer of ‘Dateline,’ and Liz Cole, Executive Producer of ‘Dateline’ and President of NBC News Studios.

“Dateline” continues to be the benchmark in true-crime franchises as the #1 most watched newsmagazine across TV during the 1st quarter, with more than 78 million total viewers, according to Nielsen Media Research. Currently in its fifth season in broadcast syndication, “Dateline” remains a dominant and competitive performer in the syndication landscape averaging over 1.3 million viewers per day for the 2021-22 season ranking as a top five hour-long strip in syndication. “Dateline” Monday-Friday is also one of the few syndicated shows to grow its audience from its first to fourth quarter hour including increasing by +6% among P2+. “Dateline” continues to deliver for its local broadcast station partners by building +7% over its lead-in among the key advertiser friendly Women 25-54 demographic for the 2021-22 season. “Dateline” Weekly also ranks as the #5 syndicated program for the 2021-22 season.
