Hosted by Buddy Valastro, Big Time Bake is the culinary competition format stripped down to its essence. All the requisite elements are there: bakers creating desserts, judges evaluating their work, eliminations, an overall winner. But what separates Big Time Bake from other standouts in the genre is what’s not there: judges’ tables, stoppages, compartmentalized rounds.
In BTB the bakers must prepare three desserts in six hours. At various points along the way, their items are judged and bakers are eliminated. But the clock never stops. And neither does the work. There is perpetual motion. The bakers are always baking.
