What Is Supergirl About?
Supergirl is an American superhero television series developed by Ali Adler, Greg Berlanti and Andrew Kreisberg that originally aired on CBS. It is based on the DC Comics character Supergirl, created by Otto Binder and Al Plastino with Melissa Benoist in the title role. Supergirl is a costumed superheroine who is Superman's cousin and one of the last surviving Kryptonians. The series is the third series set in the Arrowverse, sharing continuity with the other television series of the franchise.
The sixth and final season of Supergirl series is set in the Arrowverse, sharing continuity with the other television series of the universe, and is a spin-off of Arrow. The season is produced by Berlanti Productions, Warner Bros. Television, and DC Entertainment, with Jessica Queller and Robert Rovner serving as showrunners.
The season was ordered in January 2020. Filming began that October. Melissa Benoist stars as Kara, with principal cast members Chyler Leigh, Katie McGrath, Jesse Rath, Nicole Maines, Julie Gonzalo, Staz Nair and David Harewood also returning from previous seasons.
Supergirl will be taking her last flight. The CW and producers Warner Bros TV and Berlanti Productions just announced that the drama series starring Melissa Benoist will conclude with the upcoming sixth season, set for premiere on the CW in 2021.
