What Is 800 Words About?
George Turner is a popular columnist for a top-selling Sydney newspaper, writing a weekly column which he insists must be exactly 800 words. After his wife dies, he buys (over the internet and unseen) a new home in a (fictional) small New Zealand seaside town called Weld, where his parents took him on holiday as a child. He then has to break the news to his two teenage children, Shay and Arlo. But the colourful and inquisitive locals in Weld ensure Turner’s dream of a fresh start does not go exactly to plan.
On January 24, 2017, the Seven Network announced that the series had been renewed for a third season.It screened from 12 September 2017 with a mid-season finale after eight episodes.
On 17 August 2018 Seven Network cancelled the series after three seasons.

800 Words is one of the best TV programmes I have ever watched. So pleased there will be a series 4 after the scare that there would not be a Series 3. It would be interesting to know the world wide audience? Just keep the production going and continue to make a lot of viewers happy. My Best Wishes to the cast and everyone involved.
Don’t stop now…… series 4
Very disappointed to hear that 800 words only has one more series to go. So many of my friends and family have loved to first 3 series available to us in England. I doubt the wisdom of axing such a lovely, yet truthful story when there is a possible storyline still to be explored – why stop now? There’s so much trash reality stuff on TV nowadays this series was a breath of fresh air.

800 words proves that there are good people left in this chaotic world. Each character is delightful, creative, in-tune and full of quirky fun-ness!! I wish I lived in a small gorgeous town like Weld where folks really care about each other. I loved Heart of Dixie and Northern Exposure tv series and 800 Words shares their kind of uniqueness. I’m so inspired now to live a happier life and will find a way to visit New Zealand. Please—writers of this show—the show must go on!!!
My wife and I are almost finished watching Season 3 of 800 Words. As a non-fan of sitcoms, I am very happy to make an exception for 800 Words and its lovely people and locale which are truly heart-warming. With only one episode to go, the show seems to obviously need more seasons to satisfy all the plot lines. Should we start a fund-raiser to support longer life for 800 Words? I would happily contribute to such a project.
I am a big fan of this series. When so much TV and film drama involves violence and people behaving badly, it is wonderful to be able to watch a series with a positive attitude to life. The inhabitants of Weld have become like friends. I am really looking to seeing series 4 and sincerely hope that either the existing network changes its mind or another can be persuaded total over the programme and continue it for many seasons to come. It happened to "Lucifer"; why not to "800 Words".
I love this show best series that has been on for ages. So nice to watch something that isn't reality TV. Come on Seven put the show back on.

Seriously, 800 words has only got better with time. While the series started out with Season 1 as rather banal, the characters and storyline has deepened and become more complex with each subsequent Season. As so many other fans have stated, there is too much reality crime available. Acorn has consistenly offered better than that. It's why we willingly pay for our membership.
Please find a way to keep 800 Words going. Favorite show — smart, witty writing and complex characters. Great cast.
I have been a fan of much of the programing on PBS, both British and Australian productions along with the Swedish/Danish "The Bridge". All are first class endeavours (yes, that one too) and so I cast my vote for more including the infectious "world of Weld"!!!

Yes..please do a Season 4. Here in the USA, so many of our shows are now just crap and full of filth. I have Acorn to watch your great Aussie shows….800 Words, A Place to Call Home and for sure, what you all call Doctor, Doctor…known here in USA as the Heart Guy!

Has anyone got the message yet?? The public are asking you to PLEASE bring this back! As others have said, such a nice change to the reality tv and crime series there are these days. I'm a kiwi and my other half is an aussie, and we've both loved the first 3 seasons.

So very disappointing to learn. After returning from NZ, I discovered 800 Words and watched it every night. I will miss it very much.
I was really looking forward to Season 4. Can not believe it is cancelled. The show had so much more potential for development. Found the show on our public television USA and became a fan at the first episode. It is complex, funny, witty, poignant and a delight to watch.

PLEASE bring season 4 to our screens. Just love it …can't stop watching it. Love all the characters, and the town of Weld. Don't disappoint all your fans, it is the best show on TV. Ditch all those other stupid reality shows and give us back 800 Words.
Will 800 words series 4 be released in the UK 🇬🇧 I have Thoroughly enjoyed series 1 to 3 and have been waiting for a long time for Series 4 to come out ! I really really hope that I will again enjoy watching 800 words ! I will purchase season 4 on dvd 📀 if they are not going to show it on UK television. I was so disappointed when I read 800 words had been cancelled and then to find out series 4 was being released I was over the moon ! So please make me happy and give me a positive answer please!
