What Is The Mosquito Coast About?

Based on Paul Theroux's best-selling novel and starring Justin Theroux, Melissa George, Logan Polish, and Gabriel Bateman, "The Mosquito Coast" follows the dangerous journey of Allie Fox, a brilliant inventor and stubborn idealist, who uproots his family on a dangerous quest to find refuge from the U.S. government, cartels, and hitmen. In season two, after barely escaping Mexico with their lives, the Foxes venture deep into the Guatemalan jungle to meet up with an old friend and her community of refugees. This new refuge creates trouble for the Foxes though when they become entangled in a conflict between the scions of a local drug lord. At odds about whether to settle down or keep moving, Allie and Margot pursue different paths to secure their family's future. The outcome of which will either unite the family or tear it apart forever.

A brilliant rebel (Justin Theroux) and his wife (Melissa George) take their family on the run to protect them, but end up exposing them to more danger than ever. At every turn of their adventure, they encounter increasing threats and intensifying moral choices from which there’s no turning back.

Adapted from the best-selling novel by Paul Theroux, Mosquito Coast is executive produced by Neil Cross, Rupert Wyatt, Paul Theroux, Justin Theroux and Edward L. McDonnell. Alan Gasmer, Peter Jaysen and Bob Bookman also serve as executive producers for Veritas Entertainment Group. The series was developed by Neil Cross and Tom Bissell, created for television by Neil Cross, and is a Fremantle Production for Apple TV+

The seven-episode drama that also stars Melissa George, Logan Polish and Gabriel Bateman will be released on a weekly schedule, with two episodes dropping on April 30 and one episode dropping each subsequent week up to and including the finale on June 4. It is executive produced by creator Neil Cross alongside Rupert Wyatt, who also directs the first two episodes; Paul Theroux, Justin Theroux; Edward L. McDonnell, and Vertias Entertainment Group’s Bob Bookman, Alan Gasmer and Peter Jaysen. “The Mosquito Coast” is a Fremantle Production.

The last episode of the series was released on June 4, 2021 in the US.
