What Is The law according to Lidia Poet About?
Forbidden from practicing law, a woman prepares an appeal to overturn the court's decision in this true story of Lidia Poët, Italy's first female lawyer.
In late 19th-century Turin, the young Lidia Poët (Matilda De Angelis), fights against everything and everyone to get what is rightfully hers: to be enrolled in the official register of lawyers. A profession, at the time, reserved exclusively for men. Nevertheless, nothing could stop her dream of becoming the first female lawyer in Italy.
“The Law According to Lidia Poët” is inspired by a true story: that of the first lawyer in Italy, of the daily injustices for which she fought, of her fierce defense of the innocent, of the studies and investigations to discover the truth and the revolution that has taken place in the world of jurisprudence thanks to her.
