What Is The Brothers Sun About?

Follows Charles Sun, a Taipei gangster who's settled into his life as a ruthless killer, but must go to L.A. to protect his mother and younger brother after his father was shot by a mysterious assassin.

The Brothers Sun is an action-packed, dark comedic drama, and family soap. The eight-episode series is set in Los Angeles and Taiwan. It is uniquely distinct, featuring an all-Asian writers room and all-Asian cast. It follows Taipei gangster, Charles Sun, who’s settled into his life as a ruthless killer. But when his father is shot by a mysterious assassin, Charles must go to L.A. to protect his mother and utterly-unaware younger brother Bruce.

When the head of a powerful Taiwanese triad is shot by a mysterious assassin, his eldest son, legendary killer Charles “Chairleg” Sun (Justin Chien) heads to Los Angeles to protect his mother, Eileen (Michelle Yeoh), and his naive younger brother, Bruce (Sam Song Li) — who’s been completely sheltered from the truth of his family until now.

But as Taipei’s deadliest societies and a new rising faction go head-to-head for dominance — Charles, Bruce and their mother must heal the wounds caused by their separation and figure out what brotherhood and family truly mean before one of their countless enemies kills them all. An action-packed comedy and family drama, THE BROTHERS SUN is created by Brad Falchuk and Byron Wu. The Brothers Sun comes to Netflix January 4th, 2024.

The Brothers Sun is under Brad Falchuk’s deal at Netflix, through his company Brad Falchuk Teley-Vision. He will serve as Showrunner and Co-Creator with Byron Wu. Falchuk and Wu serve as Executive Producers with Mikkel Bondesen and Kevin Tancharoen who is also on board as Director.
