What Is Stargirl About?
DC's Stargirl, or simply Stargirl, is an American superhero television series created by Geoff Johns that premiered on streaming service DC Universe. It is based on the DC Comics superhero Courtney Whitmore created by Johns and Lee Moder. The series follows high school student Courtney Whitmore who discovers the cosmic staff and becomes the inspiration for a new generation of superheroes who become the Justice Society of America.
One decade after nearly all of the Justice Society of America (JSA) were killed in a battle against the Injustice Society of America (ISA), high school student Courtney Whitmore discovers the Cosmic Staff of Starman and, upon learning that her stepfather Pat Dugan used to be Starman’s sidekick, becomes the inspiration for a whole new generation of superheroes. Upon moving to Blue Valley, Courtney recruits Yolanda Montez, Rick Tyler, and Beth Chapel to form the new JSA. However, they later encounter the ISA, led by Icicle and Brainwave, along with a slew of daunting villains, including the mysterious Dragon King and his daughter Cindy Burman.
In season two, Stargirl and the Justice Society must contend with the re-emergence of former ISA member Shade and the threat of Eclipso. Meanwhile, Cindy and Eclipso work on putting together a new ISA called Injustice Unlimited.
The last episode of the series was released on August 10, 2020 in the US.
