What Is Reclaimed About?

Reclaimed is a mining reality television series that premiered on the Discovery Channel . The show focuses on rescuing mines that the claim owners are having trouble exploiting.

Mining claims deeded during the homestead act now lay dormant like golden graves across the country. With the potential of a golden fortune right below the surface, these old abandoned claims are now ripe with new opportunities. Seizing these opportunities are long-time pals Alex Charvat and Kevin Gilman. Both builders and mining enthusiasts, Alex and Kevin visit and assess a claim’s current value and negotiate for a share of the claim’s value in exchange for improving the land and structures on it. Together, they resurrect these long-dormant claims and transform them profitable pieces of property. Hidden treasure is scattered across the country and these guys want a piece of it.

The show focuses on rescuing mines that the claim owners are having trouble exploiting. Other than mining, other ways to exploit land claims are also explored, such as wilderness excursion camping, cottages, hunting; bush agriculture, and building mining camps, accesses, and facilities.
