Quantum Leap Season 2 Cancelled or Renewed; When Does It Start?
Quantum Leap Season 2
Was Quantum Leap cancelled or renewed for season 2? When does it start on NBC? Now that season 1 is over, fans are wondering if the show will continue for another season or not. In this post, we have summarized everything we know so far about the next season.
What Is Quantum Leap About?
It's been 30 years since Dr. Sam Beckett stepped into the Quantum Leap accelerator and vanished. Now a new team has been assembled to restart the project in the hopes of understanding the mysteries behind the machine and the man who created it.
NBC announced the premiere date of its new Quantum Leap, which centers on a new character, Dr. Ben Song (Raymond Lee), set 30 years after the iconic Dr. Sam Beckett disappears into the Quantum Leap. Set your alarms for September, sci-fi, fans, because we are about to have some body-hopping fun.
Fans, rejoice: The highly-anticipated sequel series to Quantum Leap will be airing on NBC this fall! The original show ran from 1989 to 1993 and told the story of Sam Beckett, a scientist who finds himself trapped in time after a botched experiment, forcing him to leap from body to body. The new Quantum Leap sequel takes place 30 years after Dr. Sam Beckett disappears into the Quantum Leap accelerator and centers around a new character, Dr. Ben Song, played by Raymond Lee.
Dr. Song has ultimately been tasked with leading a new team to uncover the mysteries surrounding the original experiment and missing scientist Dr. Sam Beckett. The series will also star Ernie Hudson, Caitlin Bassett, Nanrisa Lee, and Mason Alexander Park.
Fans of the original Quantum Leap are in for a few surprises, including the return of some original characters and the continuation of the most popular plot points. Hudson, known for his role in the HBO series Oz, plays Herbert “Magic” Williams, a character introduced in Season 3 of the original show. As a Vietnam War veteran, Magic utilizes his strategic military and political negotiation tactics to keep the Quantum Leap Project moving forward.
The new series also reimagines Admiral Al Calavicci as Addison, another important member of the Quantum Leap team who maintains communication with anyone on an active time-travel mission. Star Trek: Picard actor Nanrisa Lee is slated to play Jenn, the head of security for the highly-classified project, and Cowboy Bebop actor Mason Alexander Park is taking on the role of Ian, the lead architect for Quantum Leap’s A.I. technology.
Raymond Lee as Dr. Ben Song
Our main character of the new Quantum Leap is Dr. Ben Song, a highly-intelligent quantum physicist who jumps through time to explore the mysteries of the original Quantum Leap experiment. While Ben will have the help of the Quantum Leap team, it is up to Ben to finally put things in order after the chaotic events of the original experiment.
Ernie Hudson as Herbert “Magic” Williams
Every science fiction story needs an authoritarian figurehead, and for Quantum Leap, we have Herbert “Magic” Williams. Magic is the leader of the Quantum Leap project, torn between the responsibility of answering to his bosses in the Pentagon or taking care of the Quantum Leap team.
Nanrisa Lee as Jenn Chou
Jenn Choi is the head of digital security for the Quantum Leap experiment and works closely with Magic. Jenn is focused on discovering why Ben decided to leap with the hope of eventually bringing Ben home.
Mason Alexander Park as Ian Wright
Another central member of the Quantum Leap project is Ian Wright, the lead programmer who rebuilds “Ziggy”, an AI unit that provides crucial information about Ben’s leaps through time. Ziggy is often the comic relief in the original series, so fans are thrilled to learn that the supercomputer will return.
Caitlin Bassett as Addison Augustine
Addison Augustine is an ex-Army intelligence officer who has an important role in the Quantum Leap project. Appearing as a hologram that only Ben can see and hear, Addison provides valuable insight into the past that Ben uses as a guide throughout his adventures.
Original series available on Peacock.
