What Is Moonshiners About?
Moonshiners have been around in the U.S. since the Whiskey Rebellion of the 1790s. Surprisingly, there are still a number of Americans who make moonshine -- an illegally produced distilled beverage -- mainly in the Appalachian region of the country. This docuseries tells the stories of people who brew their shine, often under the cloak of darkness in woods near their homes, and the authorities who try to keep them honest. The show allows viewers to witness practices rarely seen on television, including firing up the still for the first time -- a moonshiner's rite of passage. The show also introducers viewers to moonshining legends such as Marvin "Popcorn" Sutton.
“Moonshiners” New Season Debuts on Discovery Channel – 8pm ET/PT
Tensions brew in the backwoods, pitting centuries of tradition against a budding movement to legalize home distilling. As old guard shiners consolidate power, savvy innovators develop new techniques and recipes to pocket a season of tax-free profits.

I love this show. It is all about how Appalachia families survived and the things they had to do to stay alive.
Been watching this from the beginning. I have 5 brothers and many family members he on the outer banks that look forward to this show great cast of people that we have gotten to know through the show. Hope the Channel keeps it going for many years. Thanks from The Midgett Family All 500 plus of us
Moonshiners is, or is the word was, one of the very, very few good shows left on any channel. The trend to more and more garbage on TV continues. I find myself watching more and more reruns of 30 year or older shows all the time. I hope they’re smart enough to continue making Moonshiners. As it stands I can count the number of good TV shows aired in any given week on one hand. It may be time to go back to, get ready for it, reading books and magazines.
Need a update on season 13
Has to be my favorite show on tv. I feel like I know all these fellas and thank them so much for keeping my heritage alive and well. Salt of the earth folks. I’m afraid the wokistans will cancel them. Too white, too wholesome, too American for the pinheads out there that want our country and heritage dead and buried. God Bless you fella and thanks kindly!

I myself coming from Appalachia appreciate moonshiners in the beginning it really gave a true look at what moonshiners go through and what has to be done for some families and communities but then I think they got a little bold and showed too much and it really affected their lives in ways that they never thought of and it has affected the show you can tell but it is a great show but I really think it needs to get back to moonshiners. The real world backwoods moonshining because it still goes on every day starting in May June every year and when one man dies off another man steps up as a person that knows moonshine is the heart of Appalachia and I am truly proud of my Appalachia heritage moonshine will never die why should the show
