LIFETIME PRESENTS A SPECIAL AIRING OF “THE GILGO BEACH KILLER” FEATURING NEW CASE UPDATES ON SUNDAY, AUGUST 6 AT 8/7C

FROM EP & EMMY AWARD-WINNING JOURNALIST DEBORAH NORVILLE AND STARRING KIM DELANEY

MOVIE FOLLOWS THE STORY OF ONE MOTHER’S HUNT FOR JUSTICE WHICH SPARKED THE SEARCH FOR THE GILGO BEACH LONG ISLAND SERIAL KILLER

With the recent arrest of Rex Heuermann, suspected of multiple Long Island, New York murders, Lifetime is set to air the shocking true-crime movie The Gilgo Beach Killer on Sunday, August 6 at 8/7c, as part of the network’s “Ripped from the Headlines” August programming. Previously titled The Long Island Serial Killer: A Mother’s Hunt for Justice, the movie starred Kim Delaney and followed the story of one mother’s fight to find her daughter’s killer. The Gilgo Beach Killer will feature new content from executive producer and Emmy(R) Award-winning journalist Deborah Norville who provides new details on the horrific case.

Inspired by the emotional journey of Mari Gilbert, portrayed by Emmy(R) Award-winning actress Kim Delaney (NYPD Blue), the movie follows a mother’s relentless pursuit of justice after her daughter Shannan’s disappearance. Mari’s fight for answers led investigators to the discovery of the bodies of numerous women on Long Island, believed to have fallen prey to a serial killer. This gruesome discovery in 2010 led to a search for an unknown murder suspect that lasted more than a decade.

The Gilgo Beach Killer (aka The Long Island Serial Killer: A Mother’s Hunt for Justice) is produced by Lighthouse Pictures, with Sony Pictures Television distributing. Executive producers include Emmy(R) Award winner Deborah Norville and Peabody Award winner Elizabeth Stephen. The script is written by John Pielmeier (Agnes of God, The Capture of the Green River Killer).
