What Is Kids Baking Championship About?

Youngsters between the ages of 10 and 13 get to show off their baking skills in the first season of this competition series hosted and judged by “Ace of Cakes” star Duff Goldman and actress Valerie Bertinelli. Eight kids face weekly challenges that test creativity in baking cakes, cookies and pastries that impress the judges. Challenges include concocting sweet treats that use peanut butter and jelly, coming up with desserts that masquerade as savory foods, and baking puff pastries that must include secret savory ingredients. Contestants are eliminated along the way until the last four make it to the finale, during which one is crowned Kids Baking Champion. With the title comes a grand prize package that includes a complete set of bakeware, a profile in Food Network Magazine, an original cake featured at Goldman’s famous Charms City Cakes bakery, and $10,000.
