Netflix today confirmed that Karata Erika will take the role of Nagayo Chigusa, and Ayame Goriki will take the role of Lioness Asuka in the upcoming series The Queen of Villains, joining Yuriyan Retriever as Dump Matsumoto.

The Queen of Villains tells the unknown story of Dump Matsumoto, a professional wrestler who spurred the women’s professional wrestling boom with her cult-like popularity and took Japan by storm in the 1980s.

Nagayo Chigusa and Lioness Asuka are the members of Crush Gals, a Japanese pro-wrestling tag-team duo who became the pop icon by dominating the television bringing the social phenomenon.

Today, the main casts of The Queens of Villains made a surprise appearance at the legendary Crush Gals 40th anniversary event in Yokohama, Japan and celebrated their anniversary by performing their hit song “Bible Of Fire (Hono no Seisyo)” together on the stage.

Chigusa Nagayo is a part of the show who trained these main casts to prepare for the roles of pro wrestlers.

The Queen of Villains, written and produced by Osamu Suzuki, teaming up with director Kazuya Shiraishi, will be coming to Netflix in 2024.
