Hacks Season 3

Was Hacks cancelled or renewed for season 3? When does it start on HBO Max? Now that season 2 is over, fans are wondering if the show will continue for another season or not. In this post, we have summarized everything we know so far about the next season.

What Is Hacks About?

The dark mentorship between legendary Las Vegas comedian Deborah Vance (Jean Smart) and her young, entitled writer Ava (Hannah Einbinder) continues to evolve as the two travel across the country workshopping Deborah's new stand-up act.

IndieWire praised HACKS as “a series of endless wonders,” and AV Club wrote that the new season is “pitch-perfect,” starring “a never-better Jean Smart.” The Wrap noted, “Einbinder is riveting,” USA Today hailed Carl Clemons-Hopkins as a “clear standout,” Collider calls Meg Stalter “absolutely brilliant.” Salon writes that Jimmy is “played with a wonderful sense of knowing by Downs.” Of “the divine comedy from creators Lucia Aniello, Paul W. Downs, and Jen Statsky,” The Wrap adds it “remains one of the most consummately funny shows on TV.” Variety effuses Aniello’s directing, writing “honed so brilliantly… [Aniello] finds surreal and beautiful moments.” Season two’s debut marked a new daily high for the series, 125% above its season one debut day last year.

Created by Broad City trio Paul W. Downs, Lucia Aniello, and Jen Statsky, the 10-episode comedy centers on “a dark mentorship” that forms between legendary Las Vegas comedian Deborah Vance (Smart) and an entitled, outcast 25-year-old (relative newcomer Hannah Einbinder), according to the official logline. After more than 2,500 shows (“Eat your heart out, Celine!”), Vance’s residency is in jeopardy. That’s when her agent pairs her with a fledgling comedy writer (Einbinder) in the hopes of broadening her comedy and appealing to a younger demographic.

The ten-episode season continues with two episodes each Thursday for four more weeks and finales on June 10. In addition to Smart and Einbinder, HACKS stars regular Carl Clemons-Hopkins, and recurring guest stars Kaitlin Olson, Christopher McDonald, Paul W. Downs, Mark Indelicato, and Poppy Liu, Johnny Sibilly, Meg Stalter, and Rose Abdoo.

The series is created and shown by Paul W. Downs, Lucia Aniello, and Jen Statsky. It is executive produced by Downs and Aniello via their Paulilu banner, Statsky via First Thought Productions, and Emmy(R) winners Michael Schur via Fremulon, David Miner for 3 Arts Entertainment, and Morgan Sackett. The studio is Universal Television, a division of Universal Studio Group.
