Berlanti/Schechter Films, a production company founded by Emmy and Golden Globe nominated writer, director, and producer Greg Berlanti and his producing partner Sarah Schechter, have inked a first look deal for feature films exclusively at Netflix.

A prolific creator, Berlanti started as a writer and executive producer on Dawson’s Creek. He made his feature directorial debut with the romantic comedy The Broken Hearts Club. Additional film credits include critical and commercial sensation Love, Simon, the acclaimed Unpregnant and the upcoming Free Guy, My Policeman and Moonshot.

Schechter produced Rachel Lee Goldenberg’s Unpregnant, Shawn Levy’s soon to be released Free Guy starring Ryan Reynolds and Jodie Comer, Michael Grandage’s My Policeman starring Harry Styles and Emma Corrin, Chris Winterbauer’s Moonshot starring Lana Condor and Cole Sprouse, as well as upcoming films from filmmakers Jennifer Kent, Greg Berlanti, among others.

The partnership expands Berlanti’s relationship with Netflix, where he executive produced the series Chilling Adventures of Sabrina and You, which was picked up as a Netflix original for its second and third season.

Quote from Greg Berlanti and Sarah Schechter: “We love telling stories and over the last few years we have had an incredible time telling them with Ted, Bela and everyone at Netflix on the tv side and we couldn’t be more excited to be getting a chance to begin our relationship with Scott and his team on the film side. We have been so impressed by the home for filmmakers Scott and everyone there has built (this is a literal coming home for Sarah since she and the amazing Kira Goldberg were once roommates). We cannot wait to roll up our sleeves and get to work making a broad range of emotional, entertaining and impactful stories for the massive global audience that Netflix has.”

Quote from Scott Stuber, Netflix Head of Global Films: “Greg and Sarah are passionate about storytelling and have a great eye for talent. As seen by their prolific work on series, they champion a wide range of projects and we can’t wait to work on films at all levels with them.”
