Gossip Girl Series Premiere

When does "Gossip Girl" start on HBO Max? Will Gossip Girl be a successful show? Who is in the cast? Where to watch trailer & more. In this post, we have summarized everything we know so far about the new HBO Max series.

What Is Gossip Girl About?

Revival of the TV series centering on a new generation of New York private school teens using social media to spread gossip. She’s baaack. Gossip Girl is ready to return for her second act, and she’s holding nothing back. Give thanks, followers. She’ll see you at Thanksgiving. XOXO.

Nine years ago, the original Gossip Girl website shut down. But after a new generation of New York’s young elite takes control of private school Constance Billard, the notorious blogger remerges as the number one source into their scandalous lives. #GossipGirl

After the conclusion of the original series, a new cast of Manhattan private schoolers takes the lead under the watchful eye of Gossip Girl, while demonstrating how much social media – and the landscape of New York City itself – has changed in the intervening years.

In regard to continuity, executive producer and showrunner Joshua Safran stated that it is officially in the same continuity of the original Gossip Girl series. However, rather than a direct continuation of the story, it is instead set in the same world where previous characters existed and can be freely referenced and potentially reappear, but stars a different set of characters from a different point of view.

Filming for the series was scheduled to begin in March 2020 in New York City, but was put on halt due to the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic in the United States, and as a result, the release date was pushed back to 2021. Production for the series began on November 2, 2020.

GOSSIP GIRL explores just how much social media – and the landscape of New York itself – has changed in the intervening years since The CW’s original series ended. The HBO Max series stars Jordan Alexander, Eli Brown, Thomas Doherty, Tavi Gevinson, Emily Alyn Lind, Evan Mock, Zion Moreno, Whitney Peak, Savannah Lee Smith and Kristin Bell.

Developed by showrunner Joshua Safran, a writer and executive producer on the original series, this extension of the pop culture classic takes us back to the Upper East Side finding a new generation of New York private school teens being introduced to social surveillance nine years after the original blogger’s website went dark. The series is based on the bestselling novels by Cecily von Ziegesar and the original show, developed by Josh Schwartz & Stephanie Savage, which ran from 2007-2012 on The CW.

GOSSIP GIRL is produced by Fake Empire and Alloy Entertainment in association with Warner Bros. Television and CBS Studios. The series is written, executive produced and developed by Joshua Safran of Random Acts. Executive producers also include Josh Schwartz and Stephanie Savage of Fake Empire, and Leslie Morgenstein and Gina Girolamo of Alloy Entertainment. Lis Rowinski of Fake Empire serves as co-executive producer.

First season of the Gossip Girl Reboot started streaming July 8th, 2021 on HBO Max. Second part consisting final 6 episodes will debut in November 2021.
