Bridgerton Season 2

Was Bridgerton cancelled or renewed for season 2? When does it start on Netflix? Who will be returning for the new season? In this post, we have summarized everything we know so far about the next season.

What Is Bridgerton About?

Wealth, lust, and betrayal set against the backdrop of Regency-era England, seen through the eyes of the powerful Bridgerton family.

Bridgerton is a period drama series created by Chris Van Dusen and produced by Shonda Rhimes. The series based on Julia Quinn’s best-selling novels, that follows the competitive world of Regency London high society. Julie Andrews will voice the pivotal character of Lady Whistledown.

To almost no one’s surprise, Netflix has renewed the hit Shondaland series created by Chris Van Dusen after teasing the news in its fourth-quarter earnings report Tuesday. The announcement, in the form of a cheeky little letter from Whistledown herself — the Regency-era Gossip Girl character who was unmasked in the Season 1 finale — promises the return of the Bridgerton family and the rest of the Regency London society scene.

It was also recently announced that the “Bridgerton-verse” will expand with an all-new limited series based on the origins of Queen Charlotte. While the series will center on the rise of a young Queen Charlotte, it will also tell the stories of young Violet Bridgerton and Lady Danbury. Shonda Rhimes will write the series and serve as executive producer alongside Betsy Beers and Tom Verica. An official title and more details will be revealed at a later time.

The upcoming series Inventing Anna which was created by Rhimes and executive produced by Rhimes and Betsy Beers, is set to release in 2022. The Shondaland limited series stars Julia Garner, Anna Chlumsky, Katie Lowes, Laverne Cox and Alexis Floyd. David Frankel directs the first episode.

From Shondaland and executive producers Shonda Rhimes, Betsy Beers, and Chris Van Dusen, Bridgerton is set in the sexy, lavish, and competitive world of Regency London high society. From the glittering ballrooms of Mayfair to the aristocratic palaces of Park Lane and beyond, the series unveils a seductive, sumptuous world replete with intricate rules and dramatic power struggles, where no one is truly ever on steady ground. At the heart of the show is the powerful Bridgerton family. Comprised of eight close-knit siblings, this funny, witty, daring, and clever group must navigate the upper ten thousand’s marriage mart in search of romance, adventure, and love.

“From the first time I read Julia Quinn’s delicious Bridgerton series, I knew these were stories that would captivate a viewing audience. But the evolution of this adaptation would not be a success without the many significant contributions of the entire Shondaland team,” Rhimes said in a statement. “This two-season pickup is a strong vote of confidence in our work and I feel incredibly grateful to have partners as collaborative and creative as Netflix. Betsy and I are thrilled to have the opportunity to continue bringing the world of Bridgerton to a worldwide audience.”

The last episode of the series was released on December 25, 2020 in the US.
