What Is After Life About?
After Life follows Tony, whose life is turned upside down after his wife dies from breast cancer. He contemplates suicide, but instead decides to live long enough to punish the world for his wife's death by saying and doing whatever he wants. Although he thinks of this as his "superpower", his plan is undermined when everyone around him tries to make him a better person. It is set in the fictional town of Tambury, where Tony works as a journalist at a local free newspaper, the Tambury Gazette.
It’s the final season of After Life and Tony (Ricky Gervais) is still desperately mourning the loss of his wife, Lisa. Will he ever truly embrace the future if he can’t let go of the past?
Set in the small fictitious town of Tambury, the show follows Tony, a writer for the local newspaper whose life is upended after his wife dies from cancer. Whilst still struggling with immense grief for his wife, Tony starts to realise that making other people feel good is what can give him hope and a reason to live. After all, every end is a new beginning.
AFTER LIFE is a Netflix original series from Derek Productions. The series is created, written and directed by Ricky Gervais. Ricky Gervais and Duncan Hayes are executive producers.
