What Is The Curse of Oak Island About?
Oak Island is a tree-covered island on the south shore of Nova Scotia that has intrigued treasure hunters for more than 200 years. It is believed that the island is hiding one of the greatest treasures of all time, but no one has been able to find it. Enter Rick and Marty Lagina, brothers from Michigan who have bought the rights to much of the island to try to solve the mystery. The two use modern technology and good old American know-how to look for the treasure. But it won't be easy as the search is expensive and dangerous -- several people have died trying to strike it rich on Oak Island, inspiring the titular curse. The Laginas hope to avoid the curse long enough to find the treasure before they run out of money... or worse.

Not even the coronavirus can slow down Rick and Marty Lagina in their treasure hunt off the Nova Scotia coast. For Season 8, the brothers were “forced to rethink this year’s entire search strategy,” creator Kevin Burns says. Rick, Marty and the Oak Island team are back for the biggest season yet – bringing with them more determination, resources and technology than ever in their quest to solve the 224-year old treasure mystery. After seismic testing conducted at the end of last season revealed a possible sunken ship buried in the triangle-shaped swamp, the team will use sonic core drilling, strategic dives and finally a historic big dig to find out what could be buried below. Now fully partnered with fellow land owner, Tom Nolan, the son of the late, Fred Nolan, Rick, Marty and Craig Tester will have unprecedented access to areas of the island that they hope will yield answers… and treasure. #OakIsland
The last episode of the series was released on May 4, 2021 in the US.

My family and i have watched from the beginning and are so tired of wasting our time while you uncover a rock road (nobody cares) I think you know exactly where the money pit is and your just stalling to see how many tv seasons you can stretch your tv show. Well my family and i have had enough. WASTE SOMEONE ELSES TIME.
I love the day to day grind of archeology. It isn't exciting, all the time, but another puzzle piece found is bait to be taken. Thank you for the fun and the memories.
As proud Canadians, my family & I have watched The Curse of Oak Island from the beginning. We hang on every episode. This is real life. As any archeologist will tell you, there are times when you find nothing & there are other times when you find lots in a very short time. There is also COVID-19, time & weather constraints that they have to deal with. History Channel hurry up & renew them for however many seasons it takes to resolve the Oak Island Mystery. Remember this is a part of Canada’s history we are talking about.
It’s beyond the finding of treasure. I love the process . I like that they show the road. I like that they find wood , hand hewn , marking the construction of the road. Ox shoes made like those of Scotland, or hand painted Porcelain from England ,cannon balls and part of a small cannon base All speaks of a history that is yet to be revealed.
What's This? A piece of manmade iron found on the stone road? Was it possibly used to transfer items on the stone cobbleroad to access a hidden tunnel that led to the money pit? Could this be a direct link to the riches and spoils that are possibly and quite maybe another load of partial bullcrap that strings the show on eternally? Most definitely, but you can still count me as a viewer… just in case.
It really is running a little slow
The yellow brick road is absolutely boring! I wish they would have went with the large boring operation in the "pit" What they are doing now is a waste of time could have wrapped that up in two episodes. How about that ship shaped object in the swamp?? That would be more productive and interesting. Such a waste of my time. I'm done until I hear they find something . Gary is a waste I would have twenty guys out there with detectors, just so stupid.
I have watched from the start great show and lots of history. Keep going.

im 74 years old i can find water underground creeks rivers lakes aquafers i can follow their direction give you the depth how many meters deep is the water and exactually its exact direction ihave found water as deep as300 ft and more if i can help please contact me at this is no joke my grandfather could rind water the same way
They can’t cancel the series. The seventh person hasn’t died yet. The treasure hasn’t been found. They hasn’t found the mystery stone. They haven’t found all the ring bolts and the why.
Please don't leave us hanging. There are many many faithful people that watch The curse of oak Island. We are begging that there be a season 9 out of all shows on television this is the one that should never be canceled. Thank you and God bless you all.
I'm from the great state of Tennessee and I have watched yall from the beginning and got my whole family hooked on it as well, and I bought the book I do believe they know more than what's shown on tv but also I do believe while they add a season behind the scenes, that give then time and money to focus on working and to really uncover things. Yes it's slow going and yes it can be alil frustrated at times but I dont believe they have everything pinpointed. But I do say keep the show going! I wanna see yall find that treasure and not just that they have found enough already to rewrite they country and part of our history completely and i believe that is priceless to our nations, and i do believe there was something huge that happened there and that it was a hell of a thing to see if we could go back that far. So God bless and bring us season 9!
Please renew the Curse of Oak Island. It is interesting not only for the treasure hunt, but for the struggles and how they have to over come them.
I love the show. Sure, there are times it seems a little slow and drives me crazy when Gary D. spends too much time on one object found. Hey, keep searching, don't stop as soon as you find something. And the guy that goes over what might be found drives me crazy. I can hear him in my sleep. Keep searching Gary; don't stop. You may find enough coins to amount to a treasure. 🙂 Keep digging. Love the blacksmith. That guy knows his stuff and what an impressive place. Hope to go to Oak Island some day to go on tour and see their little museum there. God Bless you all.

Without a doubt , my favorite show on tv. I've been following the " Money Pit " since the
1970's when it aired on the " In Search of " show. They can't stop now. They have too much
time and money invested in this search. If they find religious artifacts it could be historic.
The curiosity is infectious. They've got to bring it back on the "History Channel " Carmen
Legge ( the Blacksmith ) is amazingly knowledgeable.
As a 14 yr old in 1963, I became interested in the Oak Island mystery the same way as the Lagina boys did when my dad handed me a copy of our Readers Digest and pointed out the story. Over the years I often thought about what was going on there and if anyone found anything as yet. What a thrill when the show appeared ! One has to wonder why, with so much early activity the little island never showed any real development to become another Manhattan! As a Canadian, I am very proud of the story unfolding there and it's potential changes on historical fact. As for those who whine of their boredom with the show ( my wife included, god bless her), it's most likely that they lack any spirit, interest, or imagination in history or the struggles of those who have gone before. If you are facinated by history and life as it was, then many treasures have already been found during the show. Perhaps those who don't understand this should just watch what does interest them and stop being so hard on this incredible tale as it slowly unfolds. After all, Rome wasn't built in a day.
Please renew it for another season I love watching it You see so much history that they are making and I can't wait to see the next season.
Can DNA be taken from the bone fragments? Horrible as it sounds, it makes sense if captured American Indians, or captured slaves or captured sailors/soldiers would be pressed into service and to insure secrecy would be all killed when the shaft was blown closed. It might reveal where the trip originated. The coconut fiber probably came from the reusable cargo packing that stayed the cargo in the scuttled swamp ship.
Hope they keep this show going one of the few truly great shows and documentation of this amazing search for this unbelievable treasures using every piece of data to find out what actually happened in Noth America changing history really think about it. Why would they keep that on the History channel.
You definitely have to have a season nine after getting to this point.
They would have to renew for season 9. There are too many people who have watched for 8 years and to cut it off as it is beginning to prove some things would leave History Channel and A&E (History’s parent company unless there is a sale) both with a black eye.
I first knew about Oak Island by reading the story in the Readers Digest 1965 when I was 19 years old. I live in the UK and to this date it has been one of the things that will be with me until I know the outcome, it has been part of my life and I never miss a programe. I am noe 74 years of age . Please dont stop now I would like to know the outcome, we are all getting older.
Love LOVE the Curse of Oak Island. Yes, it moves slow and I do wish they had more hands at work, more diggers and more drills to satisfy our sense of urgency. It would be so great to make several major discoveries and advancements in this new season to come. If the production company in control could move it along at a faster pace toward a grand finale we would all feel that we haven't wasted our time watching this great adventure for almost a full decade!

Please bring it back. My family and I love sitting down to watch it. Mind you we have to record it to be able to watch all together. My kids have learned a lot from the show.

How can it not be renewed. There questions that could change history that need to be answered. And of course, we want them to find the treasure or treasures. This island clearly plans a huge role in the history of our country as well as world history. I want answers.
