What Is Emily in Paris About?

Emily in Paris follows Emily, a driven twenty-something American woman from Chicago, who moves to Paris for an unexpected job opportunity. She is tasked with bringing an American point of view to a venerable French marketing firm. Cultures clash as she adjusts to the challenges of life in a foreign city, while juggling her career, new friendships and love life.

During Emily in Paris’ PaleyFest Event, Darren Star announced Season 3 will return to production this Summer and Lucien Laviscount is now a Series Regular.

In season 2, now more entrenched in her life in Paris, Emily’s getting better at navigating the city but still struggling with the idiosyncrasies of French life. After stumbling into a love triangle with her neighbor (Lucas Bravo) and her first real French friend (Camille Razat), Emily is determined to focus on her work – which is getting more complicated by the day. In French class, she meets a fellow expat (Lucien Laviscount) who both infuriates and intrigues her.

The first season of the comedy, which stars Lily Collins and hails from creator, writer and executive producer Darren Star (Younger, Sex and the City), captivated members around the world. During a recent Academy of Television Arts & Science panel on the series, we revealed that 58 million households around the world chose to watch Emily in Paris in its first 28 days, making it Netflix’s most popular comedy series of 2020.

Each unique piece furthers the storytelling of the show’s stylish Parisian life. Chanel Métiers d’Arts brands that include luxe hats, jewelry, and knits epitomize stylish Rue St. Honoré. Pierre Hermé’s macarons convey the opulence of the Opéra Garnier. The idea to co-brand and curate select merchandise tied to the show came after Mindy Prugnaud had a meeting on the set of the first season of Emily in Paris with creator Darren Star. “I’m a big fan of his work,” she said, “There was an opportunity to associate this TV project with luxury for the first time; Afterall it’s shot in Paris, and the costume styles are created with European brands.” Mint Group strongly believes ‘shoppable content is the future connecting entertainment and retail.’

The last episode of the series was released on December 22, 2021 in the US.
